Photo to text

Photo-to-text not reading correctly? How to improve the image

Fix blurry, tiny or incomplete photo text before sending it to Echo MSG. Learn to check names, numbers, columns and missing lines in the reply.

The quick answer

Start with a sharp, well-lit photo where the writing is large enough to read. Keep the page straight, avoid glare and include the full text. Send the clearer image to Echo MSG and compare its reply with the original, especially names, numbers and line order. Text recognition cannot reliably recover details that are missing or unreadable.

Capture readable text

Photo-to-text starts with the image. Before sending it to Echo MSG, open the picture and check whether you can comfortably read the smallest words yourself. If the characters are already smudged or cut off, the reply may be incomplete even when it looks neatly formatted.

Hold the camera steady, light the page evenly and photograph it as straight-on as you can. Keep every line in frame. For a screenshot, capture the original screen at a readable size rather than photographing a small display from a distance.

Once the image is clear, send it to Echo MSG as a photo. Review the text reply beside the original before using it.

Match the problem to the fix

Practical fixes to try before sending another image
What you seeWhat to try
Blurred lettersRetake the photo with a steady camera and focus on the writing. Enlarging an already blurred picture does not restore missing detail.
Glare or deep shadowsChange the lighting or angle so the writing is evenly visible, including the corners.
Tiny text on a full pageTake clear close-ups of separate sections with a little overlap. Keep the order yourself.
Mixed-up columnsCrop a readable section at a time. Rebuild the layout after copying; check which label belongs to each value.
Missing first or last wordsInclude the whole line and a small margin. Check that a crop did not remove the edge of a character.
Unclear handwritingAsk for a clearer image or a typed version. Do not treat a plausible guess as confirmed wording.

Check the returned text

Read the reply against the image, one section at a time. Check names, dates, quantities, punctuation and line order. Similar shapes such as O and 0 or I and 1 can be easy to confuse, and a missing minus sign or decimal point can change a number.

For tables and lists, check relationships as well as individual words: did a value stay beside the correct label? A text reply is not a promise to preserve a spreadsheet’s columns or a document’s formatting.

Correct mistakes in your own message draft or document after copying. Keep the original available until you have checked the final version. The screenshot copying guide explains how to move the result into another tool.

When no text comes back

Read the chat response first. No readable writing, an account allowance or a temporary processing problem are different issues. If the service reports an error, follow its instructions; do not keep uploading a private image without knowing why it failed.

Check that you sent a supported image message with visible words. A picture of a scene may not contain text to extract. Try a small, clear, non-sensitive sample to distinguish an image-quality problem from a service problem.

If you still need help, contact the Echo MSG team with a description of what happened. Echo MSG uses cloud processing, and current account limits apply. Review the Privacy Policy before sending sensitive content.

Common questions

Can Echo MSG read handwriting?

Do not assume handwriting will be recognised accurately. Legibility, script, language and image quality affect recognition. Try a small sample and review every line; use a typed version when accuracy matters.

Why are the words in the wrong order?

Columns, tables, labels and mixed layouts can confuse reading order. Try a clear crop of one section and rebuild the layout after copying the text. Echo MSG’s reply is not a guaranteed reproduction of the original document.

Should I keep sending the same blurry photo?

A clearer source is usually more useful than repeating the same upload. Retake the picture or ask for the original. If the message reports a service or allowance issue, follow that message instead.
